2023
The Musica Proibita Summer Opera Program provides a full immersion into Italian culture.
Study and performance experience for singers under the artistic guidance of an internationally acclaimed faculty of voice teachers, vocal coaches, conductors and stage directors.
The pedagogy of opera studies, giving students the tools they need to advance to the next level
of their career preparation.

Summer Opera Program
°Musica Proibita Summer Opera Program is a 10 day / 17 day intensive study program, for singers from advanced college students to finishing undergraduate degrees to emerging professionals seeking to reach the next level of their careers.
° We welcome singers 18 years of age and older from all countries.
° The program is designed to build skills and discipline that will help you to succeed
in an opera career.
° The program focuses on the standard operatic repertoire with emphasis on Italian repertoire.
° The opportunity to sing in an Opera and Sacred music concerts and a fully staged opera with a professional orchestra.
° Private singing and coaching lessons.
° Master classes with world-renowned professional opera singers, opera coaches,
conductors and stage directors.
° Daily Italian lessons, diction lessons with native speaker teacher.
° Speech therapy lessons.
° Acting classes where you will work on the Opera that will be staged.
° Audition training seminar.
° A peaceful and supportive environment where each singer is valued and encouraged to
focus on reaching one's potential.
Upon arrival singers will receive a detailed schedule with a daily break-down of their coaching, rehearsals, master classes and seminars etc.
All lesson will take place at the Seminario Vescovile Giovanni, Bergamo.

Cancellation Policy & Refunds
If you need to cancel your participation in the program, the following policies
and deadlines must be respected.
° All cancellations must be made in writing by email.
Phone calls or phone messages are not an acceptable as form of cancellation.
° Cancellations after the 1st Aprile 2023
A 150,00 € withdrawal fee will be applied to your refund.
° Cancellations after the 1st May 2023
Your 1000,00 € deposit will be forfeited plus any prepaid nonrefundable expenses.

No refunds will be made after this date.

Barbara Frittoli soprano
Born in Milan, she graduated with the highest honor at "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan where she studied with Giovanna Canetti. She later was the winner of several international competitions.
Among her career's most remarkable performances were THE WEDDING OF FIGARO (Countess of Almaviva) in Ferrara, OTELLO (Desdemona) at the Salzburg Festival and at Teatro Regio in Turin with Claudio Abbado, COSÌ FAN TUTTE (Fiordiligi) at the Wiener Staatsoper and at Ravenna Festival with Riccardo Muti, also with Colin Davis at Covent Garden.
She sang DON GIOVANNI at Salzburg Festival with Lorin Maazel, TURANDOT (Liù) at Opéra Bastille with Georges Prêtre and a tour with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Zubin Mehta. At the Metropolitan she was Desdemona in OTELLO with James Levine, a role which she has performed in Brussels (Pappano), Wien, Nice, Florence (Mehta), and in which he made his debut in Munich under the baton of Mehta. She sang DON GIOVANNI (Donna Anna) to Glyndebourne, at Wiener Staatsoper and the Metropolitan, the role of Elettra in IDOMENEO in Dresden under the baton of Colin Davis, Vitellia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO and the title role in LUISA MILLER at the Royal Opera House. We also remember her return to Opéra National de Paris in SIMON BOCCANEGRA and OTELLO.
At Teatro alla Scala, she sang Leonora in IL TROVATORE, Alice in FALSTAFF, Desdemona in OTHELLO, La Contessa d'Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Anaide in MOSES IN EGYPT and most recently Suor Angelica in THE TRIPTYCH.
Her repertoire also includes IL FLAMINIO of Pergolesi, LA BOHÈME at Wiener Staatsoper and at Metropolitan Opera, Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI, Sifare in MITRIDATE, RE DI PONTO in Turin and Paris with Christophe Rousset, Medora in IL CORSARO, Antonia in LES CONTES D'HOFFMANN, Alice in FALSTAFF in Rome with Daniele Gatti, in Florence with Pappano , and at Covent Garden with Haitink. She was Amelia in SIMON BOCCANEGRA, Margherite in FAUST, LUISA MILLER and Elisabetta in DON CARLO debuted at Teatro Comunale in Florence under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Liù in TURANDOT at Gran Teatre Liceu in Barcelona.
Brilliant and intense is also her activities pertaining concerts: she has worked with leading orchestras and famous conductors in the world. Her vast concert repertoire includes Verdi's Requiem performed under the baton of Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda along with bands like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Wiener Philharmonic, the Chicago Sinphony, the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, the Boston Symphony Orchestra . His repertoire also includes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, K.427 Mass in C minor by Mozart (London Symphony Orchestra / Colin Davis), Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Stabat Mater by Rossini (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra / Riccardo Chailly) Mahler's Fourth Symphony (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra / Bernard Haitink).
She has recently sung THAÏS in Turin, the Verdi Requiem conducted by Maestro Pappano at Covent Garden, COSÌ FAN TUTTE in Valencia and Vienna, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO in Madrid, at the Opéra National in Paris and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, SIMON BOCCANEGRA conducted by James Levine in Boston, New York but also in Barcelona, CARMEN at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, LUISA MILLER at the Zurich Opera, LA BOHÈME in Tokyo Yokohama on tour with the Teatro Regio in Turin. And moreover SIMON BOCCANEGRA at the Metropolitan Opera, FALSTAFF and LA BOHÈME in Zurich and finally DON GIOVANNI at the Metropolitan Opera, in Washington and at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as ADRIANA LECOUVREUR in Barcelona, DON CARLO in New York and at Teatro Regio in Turin, IL TABARRO in Verbier, FALSTAFF at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, LA BOHÈME and PAGLIACCI at Metropolitan Opera, FALSTAFF at the Berlin Staatsoper.
Fabio Armiliato Tenore
Fabio Armiliato, singer and actor, is one of the most important tenors of the international opera scene, acclaimed by the public for over three decades thanks to its unique vocal style, his impressive upper register and to his innate musicality , for not to mention his dramatic abilities and charisma that infuses in his characters. Born in Genoa, he studied at the Conservatory Niccolo Paganini of his city, and here he made his debut as Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra and began a rapid career that led him to address the most important roles of its register in the most prestigious theaters in the world. In 1993 he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York with Il Trovatore (Verdi), returning later with Aida, Cavalleria Rusticana, Don Carlo, Simon Boccanegra , Tosca, Fedora, Madama Butterfly and Andrea Chenier. The latter, considered one of his most iconic roles, he received the proclamation from the critics of “best Chénier of our times”.
Equally importance Fabio Armiliato gave to the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, also sung at La Scala in Milan, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the New National Theatre in Tokyo. During the period from 1990 to 1996, he performed in the Theatre of Antwerp on a cycle dedicated to Giacomo Puccini, in production directed by Robert Carsen interpreting Tosca, Don Carlo and Manon Lescaut. Since 2000, with her marriage in art and life with soprano Daniela Dessi has created one of the most important artistic couples of the recent history of opera, who got memorable triumphs in Manon Lescaut (Seville , Barcelona , Vienna, Parma and Berlin ), Adriana Lecouvreur in Naples, Palermo, Milan and Barcelona; Aida, Simon Boccanegra at the Verdi Festival in Parma and especially the interpretation of one of the most important titles of the verismo repertoire : , Zandonai’s Francesca da Rimini, in Rome and in Macerata, who celebrated the return of this masterpiece of the young school. Refined interpreter of Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca with more than 150 performances of the title, has been acclaimed in this role in the most prestigious Opera Houses such as the Arena of Verona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, La Fenice in Venice and in a Japanese tour with the Teatro dell'Opera de Roma (who picked up a successful and memorable 45-minute applause at the end of the show) .
In this role he then returned to La Scala in Milan, conducted by Lorin Maazel, and to the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London under the baton of Antonio Pappano. Among the successes of these seasons, we recall a sensational debut in La forza del Destino at the Opera of Monte Carlo, La Fanciulla del West in Rome (with a historic encore in the popular aria Ch'ella mi creda ) and Tosca at Caracalla, celebrating twentieth anniversary of his debut in the same role in that location.
In the 2009-2010 season has opened with Turandot the season of the restored Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari with great success in the role of Calaf for the first time in Italy, then Madrid ( where he sang a brilliant Andrea Chénier ), Zurich (where he made his debut in the role of Rodolfo in Luisa Miller ), has returned to his native city of Genoa with Tosca where the public has received with great applause (Two encore for him every night), Vienna ( La Forza del Destino) and Torre del Lago, for the inauguration of the Festival Puccini with a new production of La Fanciulla del West, created to celebrate its centenary, with Daniela Dessi in the title role.
Often hosted in the most poular television programs dedicated to the opera, in 2011 after the long-
awaited and triumphant debut in Otello at the Royal Opera of Liége, he was awarded with the "International 1° Premio Tito Schipa " in the beautiful Ostuni and he was proclaimed honorary citizen of the city of Recanati in the name of the great tenor Beniamino Gigli.
Fabio Armiliato starred in one of the main characters of Woody Allen’s film "To Rome with Love" released in 2012 and he has been awarded with the special "Oscar della Lirica 2012" on August 2, 2012 during the "International Opera Awards" in Torre del Lago Puccini.
Between 2013 and 2018, after the great success at the Opera de Wallonie Liège in Il Trovatore and La forza del Destino, he triumphed in Cavalleria Rusticana at the greek theater of Taormina and at Wiener Staatsoper and after in Madama Butterfly, Fedora and Carmen in Genoa and Otello in Valladolid. His La Boheme in Torre del Lago Puccini, directed by the master of cinema Ettore Scola and with Daniela Dessì, gained and extraordinary triumph, of critic and audience, reported by all medias in the world and that was broadcasted live and published in DVD by RAI 5. In December 2017 he made his debut as Danilo in The Merry Widow at Teatro Bellini in Catania and in November 2018 he played the role of Luciano de Chablis in Pietro Mascagni’s Sì, receiving in both productions a great success by audience and critics.
In 2019 he had a huge success playing the role of Maurizio di Sassonia in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona and as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen in Arena di Verona. He returned to South Corea in Carmen at the end of december 2020.
Awarded with the title of Genoa Ambassador in the World and Knight of Malta in May 2018, he’s been nominated Diplomatic Correspondent by Malta Government for artistic and humanitarian merits. Fabio Armiliato has also been working for years as a vocal technique teacher and a high level teacher for the opera repertoire, participating in competitions, courses and conferences on the subject and as a teacher of Masterclass.

In his impressive artistic career, there have been many occasions in which Fabio Armiliato has
found himself performing together with great artists, not only of opera but also of world pop
also taking part in three editions of the traditional prestigious "Christmas Concert in the
Vatican" where, he had the opportunity to be together on stage with artists of the caliber of
Lionel Ritchie, Patti Smith Elisa, live worldwide television. This continuous desire to explore and
get closer to other musical territories has meant that in 2020 several important and prestigious
collaborations were born that led him to interpret the song "Genova Vita" by Maurizio Martellini,
a real tribute and hymn to his hometown, made on the occasion of the opening of the "Nuovo
Ponte San Giorgio" and the most recent and very successful collaboration with Manuela Villa,
daughter of the great Claudio, in a duet with her in the beautiful song "Sei nell'aria" enriched by
a very suggestive videoclip.
He has also been working many years as a teacher of vocal technique and high specialization
for the lyrical repertoire, participating in competitions, courses and conferences on the subject
and as a Masterclass teacher.

Josef Fuchs
Artistic Director
Born in Kitzbühel, Tirol, is an Austrian-born singer, actor and cultural manager. He studied vocal performance, musicology and communication at the University of Salzburg and started to work for the Salzburg Festival in 1998, as assistant to Markus Hinterhäuser (current Intendant of the festival) and production-manager for the Zeitfluss Festival.
In 2014 he was appointed head of Casting and Artistic Affairs at the Nederlandse Reisopera
(Dutch National Touring Opera), his current position.
Prior to this, from 2007 to 2014, Josef Fuchs appeared in Vienna as regular guest singer at the Wiener Burgtheater but also at Theater an der Wien, and as actor for diverse off-scene projects.
Next to performing on stage he also worked many years as artist manager at the international opera agency Sono Artists, based in Vienna, and worked for a couple of Austrian summer festivals in management and consulting.
Josef Fuchs joined for many years major international vocal competitions and was part of the jury of the International Singing Competition at the Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival, the International Ada Sari Vocal Competition, and for the preliminary rounds of the Belvedere Singing Competition in Amsterdam. He also presented the finals of the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti, part of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, in 2012.

Massimiliano Di Fino
Pianist, Organist, Composer, Tenor
Born in Bergamo, he graduated in 1994 at the Musical Institute Gaetano Donizetti (Bergamo) in piano, organ and composition with honors. He attended courses of perfection, held by illustrious names like A. Schiff, A. Sacchetti and G. Parodi. Simultaneously he undertook at the Conservatory of Milano, studies of choral conducting, conducting and singing. He has collaborated with many instrumental and vocal formations, obtaining great success both from the public and critics.
Winner of prestigious competitions, he has been invited to the most important Italian and European cities to perform important organ works by C. Franck, M. Duruflé, O. Messiaen just to name same.
The first complete organ works of C. Franck was performed in the Basilica of San Carlo in Milan at the age of 16 years, after he had won a contest held by the humanitarian society of Milan as "best student of the Conservatory of Bergamo".
A great virtuoso, attentive and sensitive interpreter, with diverse personalities but with very precise ideas rooted in the historical and cultural European, Italian organ tradition. He has experimented with all kinds of organ music and always with great success.
Over the years he has dedicated himself with particular attention to the nineteenth-century Italian organ music becoming an expert performer.
The study of singing and the vast repertoire of vocal music, allows him to interpret the 19th century Italian organ so masterfully and uniquely, making him one of the best performers in this genre.
He served as Master piano accompanist, at the theatre Carlo Felice in Genova and at the Donizetti in Bergamo. Always as an accompanist, he worked with major opera singers like Nicola Martinucci, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Marcelo Alvarez, Ivan Magrì, Nino Machaidze.
Is currently chorus master of the Choir Calauce Lyric of Calolziocorte (Lc) as well as the Lirico Simone Mayr of Bergamo and works together with the lyric choruses of Tesserete, Mendrisio and Lugano (Ch), these choirs perform operatic and sacred repertoires.
As tenor he has performed extensive repertoires of sacred music and lieder. He is a member of vocal group "Italian Harmonists" www.italianharmonists.it
Since 2010 is a chorister, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and has interpreted, at Teatro alla Scala, solo roles in the following productions: Lady Macbeth of the Mcensk district of Shostakovich, A bride for the Tsar by Rimskij-Korsakov, Les Troyens by Berlioz,
Le Comte Ory of Rossini, Strauss ' Rosenkavalier, Porgy & Bess by Gershwin and Beethoven's Fidelio.

ALESSANDRO TREBESCHI
Pianista
Segretario artistico della Stagione d’Opera del Teatro Grande di Brescia
Diplomatosi in pianoforte al Conservatorio Lucio Campiani di Mantova, Alessandro Trebeschi ha proseguito i propri studi presso l’Università degli Studi di Brescia laureandosi nel 2003 in Economia Politica e all’Università di Pavia dove, nel 2006, si laurea in Economia Internazionale.
Da solista e camerista si è esibito in diversi Paesi europei e in Giappone come Kawai Artist, in Italia come ospite di Serate Musicali a Milano e di altri Festival e Stagioni concertistiche. Ha registrato per Radio Rai e SKY Classica. Nel 2018 ha inciso il quintuplo CD “Bazzini 200” per il bicentenario della nascita di Antonio Bazzini, con l’integrale delle trascrizioni operistiche per violino e pianoforte del maestro bresciano, in collaborazione con la violinista Anca Vasile. Si è dedicato attivamente alla promozione di spettacoli ed eventi che legassero la Musica con altre arti, alla realizzazione di opere liriche a fini didattici, all’ideazione di lezioni-concerto per i ragazzi. Promotore e direttore artistico del concorso lirico “Bazzini” di Montichiari, ha scritto e diretto per Terres des Hommes e la Commissione Europea il progetto Music bridges West Bank, Italy and France, che ha coinvolto più di 5000 bambini in Medio Oriente.
È, tuttavia, come pianista accompagnatore che ha svolto la maggior parte della sua attività. Collabora e ha collaborato in passato con il Festival Donizetti di Bergamo, il Teatro Comunale di Modena, il Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino.
Attualmente è vocal coach per il Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Scuola dell’Opera) ed è pianista ufficiale dei Talent Music Master Courses di Verona. Svolge il ruolo di accompagnatore pianistico presso il Conservatorio di Milano, il Conservatorio di Mantova, l’Istituto pareggiato di Cremona e il Conservatorio di Verona.
Dal 2021 è Segretario artistico della Stagione d’Opera del Teatro Grande di Brescia

Conductor, Pianist
He began studying the piano at the age of six and continued at the Conservatory "Luca Marenzio" Brescia under the guidance of Professors Adele Arno, Antonella Vignali and Maestro Andrea Zaniboni in chamber music. He carried on studying with Maestro Riccardo Bettini and finally graduated with honours in piano majors.
Attended seminars "Piano Literature in the 20 th century “ held by Maestro A. de Curtis and specialization courses on" Teaching Russian piano " with Maestro. Ludmilla Tarassova (Russia) and then he specialised with Maestro Carlo Balzaretti.
Since '94 he started working as a piano accompanist / organ and aid director at the Association "Schola Cantorum" Soccer (Bg), performing in numerous concerts both in Italy and abroad (Prague, Vienna conference room Rathaus, Salzburg, Melk , Rome).
Since 2008 he started working in the same roles with the Association Choir Palazzolo "La Rocchetta" conducted by Maestro Renzo Pagani, performing concerts with a rich repertoire of sacred, choral and orchestral. (To performance at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican).
He has been workeing as an organist with the following Orchestras Symphonic: "Orchestra 'Incanto Armonico", "The “ Orchestra dei Colli Morenici “ and “Chamber Music Orchestra Vicentina".
He participated as a choir conductor at the preparation and subsequent integral representation of the following public works: Pagliacci, Tosca, La Boheme, Vedova Allegra, Carmina Burana.
From 2014 he been the permanent conductor of the "Choir Rocchetta" of Palazzolo S / O.
Besides the direction and accompaniment in the choral repertoire, he performs concerts as a pianist in various chamber ensembles and piano duo.
In 2011 he began his studies in orchestral conducting, since he was admitted to the course direction four Orchestral Conducting at the European Academy of Vicenza, principal teacher Maestro Romolo Gessi (Wiener Meisterkurse, Orchetra Cantelli, Philharmonic Orchestra of Padova and Veneto, teacher at the Conservatory of Trieste) J. Kalmar and Silvano Perlini.
In 2012 he graduated in International Master "Conducting Beethoven Symphony", the heading 'Regional Orchestra Filarmonica Veneta, with teachers Romolo Gessi and Lior Shambadal ( Berliner Symphoniker 's Chief Conductor ). He's now chief conductor of the Musically Symphony Orchestra "Antonella Landucci".
In 2016,2017 and 2018 he graduated in International Master Class "The Romantic German Sound", conducting the “ Orchestra Filarmonica Veneta “, with teachers Romolo Gessi and Lior Shambadal.
He will be perfect with the masters Wilfried Tachezi and Donato Renzetti.
He has recentely won the International Competition in Conducting "Black Sea Competition" Constanta Symphony Orchestra, at the CONSTANTA NATIONAL THEATRE DE OPERA & BALLET "Oleg Danovski"Romania : he ranked 1st amog european directors and third in the international classification.
He's participating as gues conductor at the concert season in 2017 at the same theatre.
He collaborated with the choir “ La Rocchetta Renzo Pagani “ at the A. PONCHIELLI THEATER of Cremona for the rehearsal and concert of the Carmina Burana by C. Orff.
Finalist in the "Cantus" choral competition, he then performed as director at the final concert at the TEATRO GRANDE in Bescia.
In 2018 he conducting the " Orchestra sinfonica dei Colli Morenici “ in more concerts with a repertoire of sacred and chamber music.
In the same year he has been assistant collaborator of the IYAP "International young artist project" as conductor for the production of Mozart's Requiem performed in 2 concerts, and as stage director for the preparation of the opera "Gianni Schicchi" by G. Puccini .
In 2021 he won the SILVER DIPLOMA at the RIMINI INTENATIONAL CHORAL COMPEITION.
In 2022 he conducted the version of the Requiem by G. Faurè for brass choir and orchestra, in addition to the original version for orchestra, for the first time in Italy.
Also in 2022 he played a series of concerts bringing the Russian repertoire back to the public, including Pictures from an exhibition by M. Mussorgsky and the Chamber Symphony by D. Shostacovich. Also in 2022 he will be the first pianist in C. Orff's Carmina Burana with the Ponchielli Vertova Cremona Lyric Choir, on the occasion of the Piacenza concert review.

Mario Binetti
Actor, Director
Born in Bergamo, he played his first theatrical role at the age of eight with the company 'Il teatro del Gioppino, Zanica, BG' with which he still collaborates.
He graduated from the Liceo Musicale PS Suardo, Bergamo, he continued his studies in theater with Marco Rota and Luciano Mastellari graduating in Vocal Technique with a Master in Cinema, Theater, Entertainment and in Non-verbalCommunication.
He studied acting and directing at the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Dramatic Art in Milan as a
Voice Dubber at the Voice Art Dubbing in Rome.
In 2004 he played 'Kurt' in the Musical 'Passionately all Together' alongside Michelle Hunziker and Luca Ward with the Compagnia della Rancia under the masterful direction of Saverio Marconi and in the 2005/2006 season he participated in the national tour.
In 2013 he founded the Cultural Association 'TheatrEvents' of which he is President and Artistic Director and with which he promotes numerous cultural events and shows throughout northern Italy. He is the author and assistant director with the collaboration of Fabrizio Dictamanti "Il Paese delle 3 Patate", musical comedy.
He is the author and director of the New Year's Television Show 2021 for the City of Bergamo in collaboration with the Ducato of Piazza Pontida where he collaborated with Giorgio Gori, Benedetta Parodi, Roby Facchinetti, Niseem Onorato, Omar Fantini, Alex Esposito and with the chorus TheatrEvents directed by Bruno Santori.
In 2021 he was the assistant director of Nicola Berloffa for the production of Norma at the Municipal Theater of Piacenza.
